Returning player- feeling a bit lost with what to do. /u/Squishybobo Monster Hunter: World

Hi guys,

A bit of background to start with, Monster Hunter World was my first monster hunter game and I loved it, completed the base game and hit HR 39, did some of the post game content like deviljh but never ventured to the really end game raids. I picked up iceborne and for whatever reason it didn’t click with it and ended up dropping the game after the first mission.

I re-downloaded the game last night and started playing and whilst it was a rough first hour or two I’ve generally got the feeling back but I’m generally just lost on what to do.

I completed the Viper Tobi Kadachi mission and I’ve done some expeditions to farm for general mats but I keep getting prompts from NPCs saying that if I’m going to take on nightshade Paolumu I need sleep resistance but I have no sleep resistance charms/decs.

I’m just unsure where i should focus

  • do I farm for charms/decs?
  • do I just push though the iceborne story?
  • do I need new weapons?

My current load out is a full set of Banbaro Alpha armour and I’ve currently got two longswords I’m using, the Reaver Calamity and the wyvern blade holly. They’re not specced with great decs because I just don’t have any and when I played previously I just went off raw stats or elemental damage

Appreciate any advice

Cheers!
