What factors lead to MiSide getting so many reviews in such a short amount of time? It’s even more impressive that it’s still Overwhelmingly Positive after all those reviews, but I guess that isn’t surprising if the game is good which it sounds to be.
It’s an indie game from a team that has no real prior hits, the most reviews a previous game of their got was around 1000. (Unless there’s some big game they had that isn’t on their steam page.)
Was there a lot of marketing for it? I didn’t hear a thing about it until after it blew up and I’m fairly terminally online. I think popularity in Russia and China played a part because there are more reviews on those languages than in English, but it’s clearly a hit in the English sphere too so there seems to be more to it than that.
Edit: I noted the 33k reviews around a week ago, now it’s been closer to 3 weeks and it’s sitting at 42k, still Overwhelmingly Positive
