Has Paul McCartney ever done anything controversial by today’s standards? /u/Ac1d_monster No such thing as stupid questions

I’m shocked to realize that he is one of the very few rockstars from the 60s to not have any public scandals involving something morally wrong. I know it was probably a big deal in the 70s when he was caught with weed, but no one with a valid opinion thinks that’s a BAD thing to do in this day and age. So am I missing something or is he just that much of a golden boy? To be as old as he is and never mixed up in any sort of racism or discrimination of any kind is pretty impressive. No underage mistresses or anything like that. Never beat his wife or kids as far as I know (which can’t be said for all the Beatles). Is he really just genuinely a good guy? I’m inclined to mistrust most celebrities, but as far as I can tell, he is truly just a good person
