What do people feel as though they gain by saying “global warming isn’t real”? /u/OutrageousWafer2978 No such thing as stupid questions

My grandparents take an extremely firm stance that global warming is completely a myth. But, what I don’t understand is why? What do people feel as though they are losing from believing in it? Isn’t it better to just be cautious and just do what you can take care of the environment rather than say “fuck it.”
