I have a Half-Orc Barbarian named Thain whose entire backstory kind of relies on this idea of running away from home and getting into a scuffle with some type of creature. Essentially, his father is an Orc Warlord, his mother a peasant whore. Father just so happened to be through town with his militia. His mother died giving birth and his father took him into his militia. Thain was a very quiet, sweet, animal loving guy who was constantly bullied by other orc soldiers and his father for not being a full orc and abused by his father for being essentially a pacifist and not fitting that “commander’s heroic warrior son”. Eventually, when Thain is around 13-14, he stole his father’s prized battle axe and runs away from home. During his adventures after running away from home, he stumbles upon a creature. I was thinking this creature could be an intellect devourer…I only rolled a 7 in intelligence for him, so I thought maybe a good little piece of lore could be he got into a scuffle with an intellect devourer and barely survived after being rescued from the Intellect devourer and that’s why he is so idiotic. I’m wondering if this could even be possible? Can someone’s intelligence be taken away partly by an Intelligence Devourer? Thanks.
