armour of agyths is amazing, what? (please help i think ive made a mistake) /u/Few_Rate_9907 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I’m currently prepping a 6th level abjuration wizard, and i’m looking to see if ive misread something, because armour of agyths seems overpowered. the spell itself gives 5 temp hp, and while you have these hp, you deal 5 cold damage to anything that melee hits you. by casting it at third level, it becomes 15 temp and 15 damage. as an abjuration wizard, i can also cast arcane ward, giving me a ward that has 16 (2xlvl+int (yes my int is very high i rolled an 18 lmao)) hp. this takes damage before my temp hp. as a deep gnome i can cast nondetection at will, a third level abjuration spell which is useless. BUT my ward is healed by 2 x spell lvl hp whenever i cast an abjuration spell. this means that this heals my ward by 6 hp (3rd lvl spell), as do other abjuration spells (they heal less at levels 2 or 1).

THIS MEANS! that by expending one third level spell slot, i can deal 15 damage to any melee based creature that hits me, until i take 38 (32+6) damage, not to mention that i gain 38 hp!!! wtf! am i misreading something? i also have access to shield 4 times a day, meaning that i can forgo taking damage to give myself a chance to heal my ward, thereby extending the 38 damage time limit to a massive number which i can’t be bothered to figure out.

btw my character has 34 hp. this DOUBLES MY HP! i have more ability to take damage than an average lvl 6 barbarian (71 average hp). AND I DEAL 15 DAMAGE EVERY TIME I GET HIT!

pls help i think my dm will hide me in a deep, dark cave if i bring this to him and its wrong…
