We just played a session in which the party cleared out a corrupted forge that my character (a battle smith artificer) discovered was one of his potentially dead father’s forges. One player (bard) went ahead while I was casting detect magic, jumped down a secret tunnel and ended up finding a magical war hammer that my character’s father made for my character, and decided to not give it to the character. At that moment I was thinking alright maybe I will get it later. No, the bard tries to use it in the ensuing fight,(while not being proficient and have a 0 modifier for strength). Then when he hands it over for my character to use to purify the forge by destroying his father’s prized (and now corrupted) anvil, half of the party threatens to kill my character (who went down twice in the combat, and was sitting on 3hp, because more than half the party decided to stay outside for more than half the cimbat while the rest of us were fighting, the bard being one of them) if he doesn’t give it back to the bard. Am I being unreasonable to be a little annoyed by this. Like, this is a item, made specifically for my character, being kept by someone who can’t even use it. And his character may be a one off character, because the player may not be joining us again. So am I being unreasonable?
