I’m only about 25% well-versed in Faerun lore so I’m just curious what’s considered the “normal” response to seeing a Red Wizard of Thay in any sort of context. I’m running Tomb of Annihilation with my group and the party rolled a random encounter with a Red Wizard wherein they immediately attacked him on sight. The group isn’t (usually) the murder hobo type, and while I think maybe they were itching for some action at that point in the session I was still surprised that they were immediately hostile towards a Red Wizard who was minding his own business at the time. I understand that Red Wizards are ubiquitously evil, Szass Tam is a perennial villain, etc., but I didn’t think they were universally hated in the “kill on sight” type of way. It’s not a point of conflict for our table in either case, plus I thought it was a fun encounter, mostly just curious what the general consensus is. Thanks!
