Here’s a table of the interval between chinchompa catches based on what kind of tick manipulation you use (lower is better):

1. Walk under the trap
2. “Check” the trap (don’t “reset” it)
3. As soon as the box trap appears in your inv, eat and then immediately lay it again before the next tick
4. As soon as it gets laid, repeat step 1 before the next tick

The first cycle will be longer than 6 ticks, but the 2nd and every cycle after will be 6 ticks.

Eating food can also be used to tick manipulate in other ways…so far I’ve used it to mine the boulder in volcanic mine faster. There are probably others.
