How come China in it’s history has never taken over Korea and just annexed it into its nation? /u/Lubricatedfish No such thing as stupid questions

I know during chinas history they planned to invade Korea but they never fully occupied it and annexed it.

Also since it’s so close to China I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to invade Korea even more since it’s close to China.

Last question, why didn’t the soviets help the Chinese in the Korean War? I know Stalin told Kim to invade South Korea but did he ever send Russian troops to help the chinese and North Koreas?
