So, i’m now really lost as to game progression after MHW:I main story /u/matots Monster Hunter: World

TL;DR is: am i meant to just grind guiding lands levels and this will inevitably unlock things for me?

So far, game progression in MHW and Iceborne has been, for the most part, quite straitghforward. You do the main story, do the optional quests, and check a youtube video to know wtf there is to unlock via the events tab because lord knows devs can’t be bothered by having some of that in the description of anything.

Thing is, i’ve now finished Iceborne main story, have the guiding lands unlocked. So i thought – Hey, now i gotta play around guiding lands to progress things and then that will unlock my next assigned quest.

So i hopped to it. Now i’ve got three quests to do, all of which i feel like i’m undergeared for (or the fights are just bullshit and might just not do them, which im leaning towards, as i believe im currently at the level i think im supposed to be at, those fights being Raging brachi – which is fine in design (normal is pretty neat), but one shots can go eat ass, its boring – monke boy and furious monke boy – which are both looking very annoying to even begin to learn, not hard in the fun way, which id say velk and barioth were.

Thing is, for reasons unbeknownst to me, ive also received an actual assigned quest, named ” sleep now in the fire”, with a tempered rathian and sleep palululumon, which removed my MR cap and… Gave me nothing afterwards.

So now im wondering – how am i actually meant to progress and unlock new stuff from this point? I know fatalis is the actual end game, but i have absolutely no idea wth im supposed to do to get there. Is there like, a split progression path here, one going down tempered monsters, other with the few new ones i dont have yet?

And, for reference, im running now with a GS (velk), mostly velkhana gear for frostcraft, all of which are at max un-augmented defense, pretty much just utility as decos (focus/extended ev/earplug) because it just makes the game feel better to me
