New job and missed deadline /u/SnooGoats2016 CSCQ protests reddit

I recently graduated and started a job as a data analyst 6 months ago and was given a task to analyze data for the company. I just missed a deadline and this was a task from my managers manager who now thinks I’m not very bright (due to the questions I ask they can see that I don’t understand things quickly, and a failure to communicate effectively about the work I’ve done) leading to a lack of trust. The analysis itself isnt too complicated but it’s not very straightforward and there’s a lot of business related insights I keep finding and digging into that keeps delaying me. They told me to share what I have and that they’ll finish up the analysis so I sent over all the documents I had and my code a day and a half before the deadline. How bad is my situation? It’s obviously not enough time for them to finish the analysis by the deadline and I don’t know how to fix the fact that I come off as being incompetent
