Is it shitty good paying job worth it? /u/Glum_Worldliness4904 CSCQ protests reddit

SWE 11YoE.

I had been working for almost 2 years at a large FinTech enterprise. The work completely sucked and caused severe brain damage to me. The pay was relatively good. I took home ~12k USD monthly on average (including all bonuses and stocks) which allowed me to save some. The job caused severe burn out due to complete absence of any real technical challenges and mostly was about administrative corporate bs, tons of meetings and treating SWEs as a disposable resources. So for now I’m unemployed for the 3rd month and have 0 (literally zero) interest in anything related to programming. Don’t plan to even start applying until mid 2025.

What happens now is I’m throwing savings that I made during that mind rotting job to recover from it. Do you think it actually worth it?
