Getting an overseas remote work as a corporate-slave web dev /u/syahrizalfauzi CSCQ protests reddit

Hi all, I’m currently 1 year of working in Indonesia as a web dev in a big banking company. I feel quite skilled as a frontend developer because I’m also a “mini principal engineer” which I was appointed by my manager to review and merge my FE team member work.

I am interested in getting a remote overseas (maybe US) web dev work, my questions are :

  1. What year is it good for me to resign from my current job and explore new ones? I’m thinking 5 years of experience, and also saving up money to accommodate my unemployment period

  2. What do I need outside of technical requirements like internet, PC, etc.? an IELTS certificate? I’m not a native speaker of english but I’m confident in speaking because I’ve spent my college life playing online games that requires voice comms (I’m talking raiding in Destiny 2)

  3. Where do I look for the jobs? Yesterday I scrolled through LinkedIn and found an opening in McDonald’s as a NextJS developer and I’m truly intrigued, but I don’t think it’ll be that easy to apply from LinkedIn

  4. Should I straight up looking a big job or freelance? Assuming I’ll be resigning my current job at year 5, I imagined that I’ll have the senior title as a programmer, as such which one do you recommend?

Thanks!
