Background – 8 years YOE in software after completing my undergrad in comp sci, happy with my job and I don’t plan to quit or find work elsewhere.
I’m considering going back to get a part-time masters in computer science or similar, and wanted some feedback from anyone in the field that has done the same (key: while still employed). Funding is not too much of a concern as costs are low and I can try getting some scholarships, and my primary reason for pursuing a masters would be just personal growth – any bonus pay or career growth would be a secondary concern. Academically, my grades in the last 2 years of my undergrad were ~75-80% so I am on the cusp of most requirements but I’m hoping I can offset this with my work experience and networking.
Has anyone done this and can comment whether its a good idea? Was the course load too much? Did it interfere with work-life balance in an unhealthy way?Would you recommend it? I don’t really have a large list of questions but just looking for other’s opinions. DMs are open as well.
