Could a Kurdistan independent country be born out of the Syrian situation? /u/CharlieeStyles No such thing as stupid questions

Just keep seeing several maps with the Kurds controlling a large territory.

As far as I know, the population is split between Turkey and Syria, and want to have their own state.

Could they realistically get it now?
