confused about cantrip wordings /u/do4i4 DnD: Roll for Initiative!

I’m a beginner and just starting to learn how various spells work and I encountered some confusion of some inconsistent interpretation of similar wordings.
specifically here comparing the cantrips “Magic Stone” and “Primal Savagery”.

Magic Stone – “Make a ranged spell attack”
according to some forums entries I found is to be regarded as 1 bonus action is casting the spell on a stone und a later action is needed for throwing/slining the pebble.
=> 1 bonus and 1 action

Primal Savagery – “Make a melee spell attack”
is to be regarded as 1 attack for both. you cast the spell on yourself and immediatly attack.
=> 1 action

But why are these (to me) similar wordings to be regarded differently?
I’d understand magic stone taking a separate action of the attacker if it wasn’t you who throws the pebble, but if you do it yourself why does this take an extra action here, but not on primal savagery?

what am I missing?
