I recently took a job with a salary on the lower side of what I was looking for (about 20/hr) but I took the job for 2 reasons:1) in this market, any port in a storm will do, just got off a 1yr employment gap after graduating 2) they promised a performance review for a salary increase at the 6-month mark. when I initially took the job I felt I had the qualifications and work ethic to ask for a higher salary but didn’t negotiate because I was worried about having my offer rescinded. I’m a few months out from my review now and I want to know if I should start applying again with the hopes of getting offers I could bring to the review. I do like the company and it has good growth potential (according to my coworkers) so I don’t mind staying with them at a lower salary (money is low but I’m not behind on any bills or payments, just seeking lifestyle upgrades). I would appreciate any advice you guys have on using offers to negotiate higher pay and also how to maximize my benefit from the 6-month review.
EDIT: for context, the position is a robotic technician at a small startup
