Hey! Writing an adventure right now for playtesting in a few days, and I’ve run into a road block. The basic premise is that a botanist wizard has been cultivating dangerous and sentient plants as part of his research, and they escape their magical restraints and attack him. He gets infected by a Rooter, the party has to get him to a cleric or find some other way to cure him before his body is taken over by the parasitic pollen.
My problem is: how do i explain why this guy was keeping a Rooter? How did he cultivate this thing without killing a person????? Maybe it’s like a deer-based Rooter or something, or he happened on a young one by chance and took adventage of the opportunity to study them.
How does a person cultivate man-eating plants without feeding them some men?
