I’m back on my crusade again. This isn’t my first post on the topic, and certainly won’t be my last.
For accessibility purposes, it’s time we bring back u/target. : r/wow
I was reading some of the upcoming notes about 11.1 and read this.
- Developers’ notes: We’re interested in increasing Blizzard’s usability, so it remains a compelling option when Frost Mages are in area of effect scenarios without requiring too much cognitive load.
As a result, Blizzard has doubled the damage, expanded the radius, and extended the duration of this ability. This is an absolutely massive buff. However, there’s a significant issue: ground-targeted spells remain a nightmare for players with accessibility needs, particularly those using alternative input methods.
If Blizzard truly wants to make this ability more viable, they should implement the same solution they introduced for Earthquake in the TWW. For those unfamiliar, Earthquake was updated to become a choice talent, allowing players to either cast it as a ground-targeted spell or directly at their target. This simple change dramatically improves the quality of life for players relying on alternative input methods and should be extended to most, if not all, ground-targeted spells.
This adjustment wouldn’t just a convenience, it’s a game-changer for accessibility in World of Warcraft and something that needs to happen for the other ground targeted spells that remain in the game.
Thank you for your time, and I hope the community continues to raise awareness on this issue.
