Hello everyone, first time poster in this sub but I am having an idea and I need to know what would be best.
So, I started going to college in 2021 after leaving active duty military life and I started pursuing a degree in Comp Sci. Recently, I came back into the military as a reservist, and changed my MOS (Military Occupatuonal Specialty) to Cybersecurity.
Now, I have yet to go to the school for my new job, but by the end of it, I will have multiple certs in Cybersecurity and a Top Secret/SCI clearance and i am rethinking my career path. I haven’t been in college since 2023 because of tuition issues, but I am planning to continue college after I recieve my military training in Cybersecurity.
My question is, I am thinking about changing my major to Engineering, since I have always been fascinated by it, and I was wondering if this is a good idea. My thought process is, since I’ll already have certs and a TS/SCI clearance level, it should be no problem getting a good paying job in the CS field, and will thus leave me available to pursue a side job as an engineer once I finish my degree.
Should I change my major to Engineering? Or should I continue pursuing my Comp Sci degree?
