How do you trust another company? /u/Metalwell CSCQ protests reddit

Hello everyone, I have been a software dev for around 2-3 years, now. I am working for the government through a third party company. Pay is relatively low, but i get constant raise every 6 months or so. I developer the same web apps over and over again thus the challenge is gone basically. I am mostly free, I am watching videos, working on my side gigs etc.

This second offer is from a company that are seeking a developer with my expertise.Fully remote. They are expecting a price from me. They told me they are a startup, but the company is not very small, i searched them, they have been around for 4 years, got a big building etc. There are some people working there so on. They told me they got funding recently. They are also wanting me to name my price per hour until i can leave my old job and start there. I dont know how to trust them tbh.

What should i do in this situation? Should i make an offer and if accepted, talk to my current boss and try to get a better salary and stay here? I dont care about this “we are family” etc. I just want to get better pay.
