Finish WGU or Focus on OMSCS? /u/Delicious_Pepper3559 CSCQ protests reddit

Hi, I’m a career changer looking to land my first SWE job. I have a background working in the lab and an undergraduate degree in biology. Did a coding boot camp but couldn’t land a job so I took some prerequisites at a local community college. I decided to attend WGU for some prereqs in the bs cs program they have. Partway through, I applied for OMSCS and got accepted to start Jan 2025. Right now I need to complete 15 more classes at WGU to finish the BS in cs but am not required to finish it to attend OMSCS. I am confident I can finish it by June 2025. Should I bother finishing it or just focus on OMSCS? I was thinking of dropping WGU completely and taking 2 classes in OMSCS or taking 1 easy class in OMSCS and finishing WGU. I only work part time so I think it’s doable. Even in the “harder” classes like DS&A and Discrete math only took me 40 hours of study to get an A.
