Player want to take a cantrip instead of a leveled spell with the fey touched feat /u/Axle_Greyson_Archer DnD: Roll for Initiative!

So my players just hit level 4. One of em is looking at taking the fey touched feat but is asking if they can take guidance instead of a leveled spell. Im a little torn on this because its a cantrip and i know they will spam it because it wont eat a spell slot. But at the same time its a cantrip and they are giving up a free casting of the chosen spell.

I am torn and would like to hear some other opinions on the matter
