Is this potentially offensive? /u/Apprehensive_End4701 No such thing as stupid questions

So I’m not really hip to the whole, “what are your pronouns,” thing. I now work at a gun range in the Southern US, where, after November, we’re getting a lot more folks who don’t exactly look like the stereotypical gun owner.

I don’t actually give a shit. The second amendment is for everyone. But I’m a range safety officer, so I need to interact with a lot of people per 8 hour shift. I ran the math, and it’s 200-ish people per day, and I straight up don’t care enough and don’t have the bandwidth to get to know everyone’s names and pronouns.

But I don’t want to offend people (I actually like that left leaning people are starting to train with guns; I think it’s awesome). So I’ve started calling everyone, “chef”. My mother may chancla my ass from halfway across the US, but no more, “sir,” or, “ma’am”. We’re all chefs now. Some of my coworkers have started doing it as well (most of us are huge fans of The Bear, I guess?).

Is this offensive to anyone?
