Is it fair to ask a junior engineer to create a full stack app by themselves in a matter of days? /u/warLord23 CSCQ protests reddit

So I joined a relatively new IT advisory department as a sole developer at a Big 4 firm in September this year and it has been a constant pain in my ass. I have 3 years of experience and I have had experience working in a large software consultancy.

Last week I got to know they had extended my probation. I discussed this with the partner and they said we expect our developer, me, to create full-stack apps with Django and React in a matter of days by just having a conversation or meeting without sharing any formal requirements or even an email. I have such experiences where I developed apps in a matter of couple of weeks but they were not what I would call production-ready apps. They won’t even qualify as an MVP.

I am at a crossroads right now because they said that they will not hire any more developers because they don’t want to spend money. I took a pay cut to join this firm and right now I am confused as to what to do. I am not a UX/UI designer or solution architect who can spin up an app in a matter of days after only having one meeting. There are no code reviews, version control, or QA to support the process. I am on my own.

I have started developing a huge imposter syndrome which makes me think that all my previous work and achievements are a fluke even though I have stellar performance records with recommendation letters from my previous managers.
