So, I have between 4-6 years experience. I am bordering on senior developer. Frankly could be considered that at this point based on the work I do and the independence I have working.
With that said, I never feel comfortable in this field. I already experienced toxic jobs, a layoff, and feel in constant worry about getting laid off again. I even have clear evidence of being possibly laid off in the near future. My company I just got hired at did a lay off last month and has a bunch of contractors they brought in.
Last job hunt took months to find a new job. The one I am currently worried about getting laid off from.
I’m also tired of the massive outsourcing I am seeing at tech companies. I have real fear that I question how I will find a job in the future if I am laid off. The majority of my coworkers at my company are overseas. This is a US based company.
Overall, I am just very pessimistic from what I am seeing in this field and the trends I am seeing. I’m just at a loss of what to do. Does anyone believe it will get better? If not, what are your plans?
Do others have thoughts on this? Especially if you have any actual work experience in this field for a few years or greater.
