I’ve always used “dude” in a gender-neutral sense. Some of my relatives seem to think that’s not a thing that people do.
Am I wrong here?
EDIT: After reading through some of the comments. I should clarify: I’d only call another person “dude” if I was talking to them directly and only if they weren’t someone I ought to address more formally. I don’t call my parents or pastor “dude”.
