I’ve been playing Skyrim since 2011, and I just now 13 years later have discovered there is a lower mountain path that cuts through almost directly to Iverstead. For 13 years I’ve been going the long way around most of the time by foot….
Edit:
I see some people talking about the Falkreath/Barbas/Helgen path. This is not the path I’m talking about.
There is literally a path just south of Whiterun, that switchbacks through the mountain and dumps you at Iverstead. You don’t need to go behind or around the mountain.
