If Lydia dies offscreen, do you get a letter or an inheritance, so you know she’s really gone? /u/zeromig The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Just as the title says. I’m on my second playthrough of Skyrim on the Switch, and just like the first time, visiting Markarth triggered a massive brawl with all the soldiers dogpiling me– like literally 20 or so at once. I was holding my own, tearing into them as a werewolf, and off to the side, I could see Lydia taking a knee if she got too low in strength, but also holding her own against them. Anyway, I ran out of people to kill and eat, so I left the city, then ran away from Markarth because four random dragons attacked simultaneously. I’m ashamed I left Lydia back in the city, still fighting presumably, but I ran for my life from the dragons more than from the guards.

Anyway, she hasn’t come home yet, she hasn’t spawned by my side anywhere, and I’m worried about her. I knew she was non-essential, but I figured I’d get a courier with money by now, just so I could find closure, but nothing, yet. So, how do I know she’s really gone, and not just trapped somewhere by the terrain? Also adding, I can’t reload an earlier save because I routinely delete those auto and other saves just to keep the menu neat and tidy.
