Why do some modders design their configurations to be managed through reading books rather than MCM? /u/GoBackToLeddit The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Is there a specific reason for this? Is it that they don’t know how to make an MCM section for their mod? Do they do it for immersion? Seems far more practical to create an MCM section since you don’t run the risk of losing the book and don’t have to go find the book. For example, one mod is configured through a set of books that you find sitting over the fireplace in Lucan’s shop in Riverwood. Why do it this way?

Edit: Along the same lines, some modders seem to employ hack to get their mod to work. One mod I have lets you pick up skill books rather than read them so that you can save them for later, but you have to have your weapon drawn for it to work. Why not prompt with options to read or pick up?
