A dream taught me I would last 5 minutes in Skyrim. /u/WiseOldChicken The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Last night I dreamed I had to lead my brother, sister, and niece (brother’s daughter) through Skyrim for real.

It was in the dream that I realized how little I actually knew. I can’t fight with a sword or a bow. I can’t move easily with any armor. The dungeons were dark and slippery and the draugr smelled like musty death.

I couldn’t remember the words to all but two of the shouts and it didn’t matter because I only found one word wall. I didn’t have a dragon soul regardless.

I was attacked by a bandit in heavy armor and I couldn’t pierce his armor with my sword. He kept coming at me but my sword just slip all over the place. My brother bum rushed him off a ledge.

Gone was all the cartoon-esqe cave walls. They were replaced by the real thing. We’d find jars and containers filled with rotting food and sketchy looking bottles that were red-ish or blue-ish. There was no way I was going to drink any of them. I opened one to sniff it and the red one was thick and lumpy.

I found a gold necklace in another that had a bit of draugr flesh attached. There was a ring that looked ok until I noticed there was a skeletal hand in the jar as well.

The only thing I could fight was skeletons. In the dream we found our way to a farm I don’t think is actually in the game. There we hunkered down and planned how I would get the necessary training. The last sound I heard was the roar of a dragon.

I woke up and realized that years of training was needed to do the most mundane aspects of the game. I’ve gotten so rocky because I could click buttons and swing a joy stick skillfully.

The truth it, there are NPCs that are better qualified than me to fight a dragon.

Thoughts?
