Self aftercare after masturbation? /u/LoneWolfThrowAway Sex

A friend of mine mentioned the concept of aftercare to me (I’m completely inexperienced), which I’ve only heard about in BDSM related conversations.

After giving it some thought, I kind of assumed that’s what couples generally do instinctually: the whole “hug, cuddle, talk, watch a movie” thing after a sex session. Which makes sense because even the most vanilla type of sex can get pretty intense, so aftercare becomes a necessity in the sense that people need to wind down back to “normal mode”.

This left me wondering however… If we’re doing this for “regular” sex… Why wouldn’t this apply to masturbation as well?

By now you probably all heard the common “post ejaculation sadness” thing among guys. But I have to wonder how not having aftercare (or even self aftercare, if that’s a thing) might be contributing to said sadness.

What are your thoughts on this?
