can i have my hymen surgically removed? /u/smallt0wng1rl Sex

Im 25f and a virgin. I know that a lot of people are going to automatically judge me for that but i was raised very fundamentalist Christian and basically grew up thinking sex and masterbation was a sin (outside of marriage). I was also homeschooled and still live with my strict christian parents so spending the night with someone is out of the question and in general have just have had a lame love life.

Now that that’s out of the way…

My hymen broke when i was young and i dont remember how it happened. But i do remember that one day there was a small piece of flesh (like maybe 1/4 inch) kind of hanging below my vagina opening. I realized that was the hymen. I thought it might go away but years later it’s still there. It can be annoying when i try to insert my menstrual cup and my nail gets caught on it which can be painful. It just kind of hangs there and i dont think it makes my coochie look very nice to have it dangling there.

Can i / should i have it surgically removed? Would a gynecologist even preform such a thing? I dont want my parents to find out and also scared it may really hurt. It generally doesn’t bother me so it’s more of an aesthetic thing, especially since i do plan on having sex before marriage now.
